An artists work takes place in the studio. A day in day out effort of exploration. For some of our 17 frosty friends the work takes place in the street. Either way it is my belief that it is important for the artist to show that work in a gallery setting. To get it out of the filth and function of a studio or street; to meet it at the white walls of a gallery setting and see how it hangs by itself as a piece.

I washed up at the shores of 17 frost, after the death of my dealer Allan Stone, without walls for some time. I got to dig out half a decade of work and see it for how it was. I got invited to do a residency that turned into an installation. I sold some things. Always good, but I also met a group of people interested in being interesting. Frost also houses facilities for the production of music and theater performance, sound Recording, video production ... this whirlwind of creativity gathered me up in unexpected collaborations.

For today’s emerging artists of any media, I feel that 17 frost creates a place to pop up, see and hear yourself in a fresh space and maybe meet some like minded weirdos that will stretch your practice and your audience towards new directions.
